Kate’s qualifications just about say it all. She is just really, really good and the person I always turn to for a bit of a steer with my fitness. She has a way of being gentle and warm and yet steely tough at the same time! She can work with everyone from people like me (need motivation!) to weekend warriors, corporate leaders and elite sports teams like the All Blacks Rugby team. We met when we both worked on retreats and we shared a room. She really is my number one PT; I cannot recommend her highly enough to help my lovely clients. And she is very nice too!

After Lockdown had been going on a for a few weeks I realised just how unfit I was becoming, despite walking for 90 minutes a day. It’s just all that sitting. This led to me thinking about my clients, preparing for IVF and staying home, not moving around, sitting at their computers all day. Plus, all the stress that accompanies fertility treatment and then when that treatment is delayed. So, the result of just not moving is knotted tense shoulders, headaches, stiff lower backs, constipation, heavy legs and even bad mood, and this is not a good thing for fertility!

Because when you are preparing for IVF, what you want is good oxygen-rich blood flowing to the ovaries and endometrium and proper lymphatic drainage (lymph clears the body of toxic waste). You want your lower back, your lumbar and sacral regions to be flexible and open, those tight muscles to relax allowing all the nerves and arteries and veins to work properly. You want your muscles to stretch, and your shoulders to open, your heart to beat and your body to feel invigorated. This is targeted exercise, not high intensity but you will still feel that you have worked. Exercise also stimulates your immune system, an added bonus now.

So, I asked Kate to design a course of classes to prepare people for all aspects of IVF as well as fertility generally. And three years on she has really studied fertility and how IVF works and the intricasies of the menstrual cycle and has pre-recorded a set of classes which are just brilliant. They are focused on fertility, but also includes the whole body too.
